Hopscotch Cakes & Confections makes made-from-scratch sweets using whole local ingredients out of Champaign.  They will be moving to the new Art Mart location on S. Prospect avenue in Fall 2015!  Until then, you can find their fabulous treats at the Saturday Urbana Market on the Square and Tuesdays at the Land Connection Downtown Champaign Farmer’s Market, or you can call in to order some special order cakes and confections!

Give us a brief history of your business:

Classically trained in the art of French pastry in Portland, OR, and years of baking around the world, I moved to Illinois in 2013 and haven’t looked back!

I’ve decided on the Midwest with my corgi, Stranger, my mini dachshund, Gus, and my husband, Travis and with more than 10 years in the  restaurant industry and a catering company under my belt, I feel like I’m ready to settle in Champaign-Urbana! With Hopscotch, I provide full size cakes & treats with a bite size staff! Every aspect of your chosen dessert creation is personally attended to by me. Don’t see something you like on the flip side? Hopscotch can design something custom! I want your creation to be an extension of your personality.

What makes your business greener?:

I use local ingredients from many farmers and other vendors at the market-  herbs from Sola Gratia Farms, honey from South Prairie Farms, and other fruits and sometimes even veggies from other local purveyors.

What special aspects does your business bring to C-U?:

My menu is based off of French techniques with a twist where taste and quality stand for what I believe in. I think you deserve to know where your food comes from, at Hopscotch, I make all of your sweets from scratch using whole, local ingredients, and no shortcuts. Hopscotch is a full experience- not only will your sweets be memorable, but the thought process and distinctive flavors created with house-made extracts and infusions will show you I mean business.

You can find Hopscotch at both markets in town on Saturday’s in Urbana or in Champaign on Tuesday evenings. Coming this fall, I will be in the new Art Mart location!
